Office 2004

I just got my copy of Office 2004 today. Finished installing it tonight. I haven’t really had time to play with it, but I did manage to play with the one feature that I want the most. I’ve tried the notebook function in office, and it worked as advertised. It recorded sound and then tagged it along with my notes… Pretty nice… Anyway, I’ll let you know more when I have time to use it more…

[Update]
Had more time to play with Word. Doing a bit of notetaking, and I really like the Notebook layout. It actually does look like a notebook, and it makes notetaking a lot cooler and more enjoyable. Anyway also previously, I also like how Office XP’s tracking system makes little balloons on the side to highlight all the changes. Office X didn’t have that function and everything was kinda messy. Well, the new version of Office finally has this function.

Ra - I start visiting your site long ago - from an external source in which I have forgotten how. I'm not a medical student but I enjoy watching anything on web relating to medical students. By the way, may I know where I can buy office 2004 for Mac in HK at a relatively cheaper price? Thanks and Regards, RaMay 27, 2004 - 12:23 am

moliu - for a cheaper price? hmm... Well, I got the Student and Teacher edition since I'm a student, and that's a lot cheaper than the standard version. My version cost HKD1399 for three licenses. So it's a bargin costing less than 500 bucks for each computer, which is why I got the original... Anyway, it's suppose to go on the shelves tomorrow, I got mine at a special event. Not sure what the shops out there are going to charge yet.May 27, 2004 - 12:56 am

Ra - Thanks for your answer BTW, wanna ask one more question (unrelated to your title): Do you think it's worth for a graduate to apply for MBBS? I mean, is it more worth to study for an MPhil as the trend seems to me that HA will not recruit all medical graduates in HK? You are a medical student and I guess you should know much more than me..May 27, 2004 - 3:04 pm

moliu - Is it worth applying for MBBS? Do you want to practice medicine? Do you want to be a doctor? That's your answer. I can't really compare a MBBS with a MPhil as I don't really know a lot about MPhil. Anyway, HA will not recruit all the graduates. That a fact. No profession can guarantee employment, so there's no difference here. But that's not the issue. The climate will change, especially since we're talking about many years ahead. There might be a shortage of doctors later, so you don't know. Before anything, you need to decide whether you want to be a doctor. There's no point in doing medicine if you don't want to be a doctor because all you get out of it is satisfaction. You may earn a bit of money, but more likely, you're not going to earn that much. So think about the first question first!May 27, 2004 - 11:38 pm

Ra - Thanks so much for your comments - Actually I have been studying Radiotherapy in the past 3 years, and I found that the way I could help patient, as a radiotherapist, is really limited, this initiates my drive to apply for medicine - but am I too old to apply..I don't know. And the main query in my mind: Can I get through it?...Are 'Extremely good memory' and 'Extremely high Analytical Mind' are prerequisites? I guess I have the latter but not the other..May 31, 2004 - 6:19 pm

MD (Cornell) - you have to memorize hundreds of pages of notes each day!May 31, 2004 - 8:13 pm
