NOW Broadband TV

I’ve just installed NOW Broadband TV at home on Saturday. I opted for ESPN and StarSports for my free channels. I was looking forward to watching ESPN on my TV. After the guys installed everything, I noticed that it wasn’t going to be so easy. The decoder needs to be connected to the DSL modem directly. I couldn’t use the router to wirelessly connect the two. So I was stuck with a wire. A long LAN cable to my room… I was able to do without wires for a while and I wasn’t too keen on having wires again. The problem with the long LAN cable was the signal degraded along the way, the picture was chopping and I practically wasn’t able to watch anything. I was stuck without ESPN in my room. After doing a fair bit of research and trial and error, I finally got a wireless solution. Go to your local computer store and get one of the ‘HomePlug’ adapters. Basically the pair of adapters will relay the data through your power supply. The relay through the powerlines will act like a LAN cable directly connecting the two devices. This way, the modem and the decoder can be as far away as you like as long as there’s a power socket around. Good luck!
