6 years

I was just going through my site last night, when I realized that this blog has been online for 6 years alright! It’s been a long time. I know I haven’t been writing that much these days. Anyway, I haven’t been doing much lately. Work’s kinda tough especially when you’re on call 7-8 times a month. It seems that there weren’t any improvement since internship. I’m bascially either on-call, post-call or pre-call. Anyway, spending so much time in the hospital that I don’t really have much to do.

Where have I been?

Well, I haven’t been writing for a long time. Where have I been? Well, I’m now a surgical trainee and it’s probably best not to talk about my work.

Other than work, I’ve been getting into scuba diving. Been already on two diving trip around asia in the last few months. Went to Mabul, Sipidan in Malaysia in October and was just at Bohol, Cebu, Philippines just around a week ago. Bohol was a big surprise! It was surprising good! We managed to see a huge school of barracuda while we were there. The service was a different story. Comparing Mabul and Bohol, Mabul has much better service. The DMs in Mabul was much more professional and also has a better attitude.

Anyway, while underwater, I’ve been taking a lot of photos. Marine life is very beautiful and colorful. I’m hoping to take many more photos in the years to come. If you’re interested, you can check out my photos at flickr.

Pelican

Recently acquired a D200 to use underwater. I’ve had to make a decision about how I’m going to transport the system. Having read about everyone’s experience, I’ve decided that I would get a Pelican 1510. This is mainly because it’s the largest FAA approved carry on. What have I managed to pack in it?

  • Sea and Sea DX-D200
  • Nikon D200
  • Sea and Sea 8 inch dome port
  • 2 x Inon Z240
  • AF DX Fisheye Nikkor ED 10.5mm F2.8G
  • AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor ED 12-24mm F4G
  • Sigma Macro 105mm F2.8 EX DG

Apple Store in Tokyo

Sitting in the Apple Store in Tokyo at the moment typing out this message. It`s very nice. The keyboard layout is a little bit weird, so I`m having a little difficult with typing. Anyway, the tokyo trip is going to pretty good at the moment. Still a two more days to go. Will post more when I get back in HK.

  • A friend had recently purchased a Xbox360. I tried it for a little while. I must say the graphics were amazing. The console was hooked up to a HD TV, so we were playing PGR3 at 1080i HD. The graphics were much better than those I’ve seen on the original Xbox and PS2. Anyway, after one night, I went out and got one for myself on Friday. At the moment, I’ve only got one game, PGR3, but I’m planning to get more later. Playing on Live! was great. Playing against the computer was no fun, and I wasn’t able to play with my friends all the time. Live! meant that I was playing against other humans from around the world. Most of those playing on Live! are relatively good, and I’ve found some pretty tough competition. I haven’t been winning much, but I think that’ll improve once I got use to all the different tracks.
  • Saturday, we celebrated Harry’s birthday in advance. His family planned a boat trip for him and his friends. We fooled around the boat all afternoon. It was pretty cool. The boat was better than I expected. We took loads of photos, which will be uploaded pretty soon.
  • I’ve had quite a few interviews during the last month. I finally got a call I’ve been waiting for. RH called me this morning, and offered me a job. So excited! On July 1st, I’m officially a surgical trainee. It’s going to be a pretty long journey, and probably pretty tough. I’m going to spend at least two years in QMH surgical. I hope it’s not going to be too bad.
